Very nice! I like how she breaks down her process of painting and drawing! This isn't a tutorial by any means, but if you enjoy her artwork and want to know her process for how she begins a piece, this is great. I love the paintings. It really can be one of those "coffee table" reads. She does give insight on how to paint certain areas, such as lips, etc. but don't expect this book to be a full blown "How to Draw or Paint" type of books.

I am an artist who discovered Camilla d'Errico through a friend who recommended that I look her up because her artwork reminded her a little bit of the things I like to paint ("her paintings are so colorful and she likes to put things on people's heads just like you!" lol...). Well, ever since I found her work I fell in love with it. I am incredibly drawn to her style and particularly inspired by her paintings. So naturally I HAD to have this book! In the first part of the book she goes over her tools; from paints (she uses water soluble oil paints) to brushes, painting surfaces, and easels, etc. She also describes her studio and setup. From there she goes on to explain the process of sketching out ideas, composition & subject choices, and how to deal with a creative block. And finally, the bulk of the book showcases several of her beautiful paintings accompanied by descriptions of her painting process for each one, in step by step fashion, with the help of images to follow the different stages of progression. I recommend this book for any artist who is inspired by her art or has a love for pop surrealism and is looking for a resource to keep in the studio.

Im a huge fan of Camilla d'Errico's work, and surrealism in general, and there are few things more interesting to me than seeing how other artists go about creating their work. This book is beautiful and well constructed, with heavy pages and excellent printing quality. Although it is an instruction book, it's a lot more niche and specific than a general painting book, and deals with techniques that are particular to the artist herself and her preferred materials. It's also geared more toward someone who already has experience painting and creating artwork. It's really designed to be more inspiring than solidly instructional, although there are step by step processes on blending, choosing colours and setting compositions, among others. This is exactly what I was looking for. It also has full page reproductions of a lot of the artists' most popular pieces, which are gorgeous and filled with tons of detail. This book is an excellent addition to my own collection of artbooks, and I think anyone who either is, or wants to be, a surrealist painter, or who even has passing interest in the subject, would be well off to check it out.

This is my second order of this book! Loved my first copy... so I bought another one as a gift for an artistic friend! It's filled with large, beautiful image examples... and has tons of step-by-step tutorials. I also learned about a new, paint called "Holbein Duo Oil" ( it's an artist grade, water-soluble oil paint ) that you can mix with water, linseed oil, acrylic paint and mediums to thin and blend them. It has more pigment/color than acrylic and it dries much faster than oils. If you like/love pop painting, but don't know where to start... BUY this book and get inspired!!!

One of the best art books I've read in a long time. The photographs of camilla's art are beautiful and it is also packed with the artist's tips! Very inspiring!

Thank you Camilla! It is so rare to have an artist (especially a favorite) be so open about their process. Not only does this book showcase her beautiful work, it gives step by step instructions on her technique and suggestions on how to make the work your own. I am a self-taught artist so I have read TONS of books on painting/drawing and I absolutely love this book. The book is well written, and I knew it was a great choice when I opened it and saw paintings by some of my other favorite artists. Although my style is much different than Camilla's, I have learned many things that I haven't seen in other "how-to" books. This is the first review I've ever written, and I'm thrilled with this purchase!

This is an amazing book, for any aspiring artist. Has how-to paint guides, and how-to be a productive artist guides.

I love the art the work. It gives nice detail to the process of the paintings. Most of all, it gave me encouragement to continue on with my artwork. I've been in a slump for a couple of weeks and reading this has really helped me.
